BCCI has been organising Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for the last 13 editions. This recent edition was the 13th one where 38 teams from different states played against each other. Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were the opponent teams in the title-deciding match.
It is important to note that Tamil Nadu was the defending champion during Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021-22 edition. Also, the 2020 edition was completed just in 2021 after being postponed during the Covid-19 time. So, Tamil Nadu basically painted the 2021 year, yellow.
It was a consecutive win for the Vijay Shankar-led team during the 2021-22 edition. The final happened at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on the 22nd of November 2021. Tamil Nadu after winning the toss decided to field first.
Their opponent team Karnataka was in full form and scored 151 at the loss of 7 wickets. However, Tamil Nadu on their side scored some last-minute sixers to keep the title with them this year as well.
