WBBL 2015-2016: Sydney Thunder
One of the two strongest teams from the Women’s Big Bash League winners list, Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder met in the final of the inaugural season of WBBL. It was a close match and Sydney Thunders chased the target of 116 runs in 19.3 overs. Meg Lanning was the highest run scorer of the season. WBBL 2016-2017: Sydney Sixers
This year, the runners-up of the inaugural season came back prepared and defeated Perth Scorchers, blocking them to chase down their target of 125. Sydney Sixers enlisted themselves in the WBBL champions list, this season.
They won the final by 7 runs. And this time again, Meg Lanning was the highest run-scorer of the tournament. While Sarah Aley interestingly took 28 wickets.
WBBL 2017-2018: Sydney Sixers
In the third season of the WBBL, Sydney Sixers once again enlisted themselves in the Women’s BBL winners list. This time they met Brisbane Heat in the final and grabbed the trophy with a 9-wicket victory.
Katherine Blunt and Sarah Aley jointly took 23 wickets this season. While Ellyse Perry was the highest run-scorer.
WBBL 2018-2019: Brisbane Heat
In the Big Bash Women’s winners list, Brisbane Heat enlisted themselves for the first time during the season 2018-2019. They were the runners-up of the last season and they defeated the defending champions with a 3-wicket victory.
While once again Ellyse Perry was the highest run scorer of the tournament. She broke her own record from the previous season and made a total of 777 runs this year.
WBBL 2019-2020: Brisbane Heat
Brisbane Heat marked their name in the WBBL winners list for the second time consecutively. This time they defeated Adelaide Strikers with a 6-wicket victory.
And Ellyse Perry’s record for the most runs in the WBBL league was almost broken by Sophie Devine. She made 769 runs this season which was quite close to Ellyse’s record. Anyways, Molly Strano was the highest wicket-taker.
WBBL 2020-2021: Sydney Thunder
It was the first time after the inaugural season when Sydney Thunder wrote down its name into the Women’s Big Bash League winners list. They played against the Melbourne Stars and defeated them by 7 wickets. Beth Moony was the highest run-scorer of the WBBL 2021/2022 season.WBBL 2021-2022: Perth Scorchers
Perth Scorchers won their maiden WBBL title against the runners-up of the season 2019-2020. They defeated Adelaide Strikers and won by 12 runs. This was their third time in the finals. And they finally won their maiden WBBL title. Beth Moony of the Perth Scorchers was the highest run-scorer of the season.
