Vijay Hazare Trophy is a 50-overs domestic cricket league in India. In this, 38 teams from different states of the country play against each other to snatch the title.

This recent Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 was the 20th edition and Himachal Pradesh was the winner of it. The season started on the 8th of December and lasted till 29th, 2021.

While as far as the format is concerned, Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 format was the same as the previous year. The league phase was followed by the knockout stage where Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Services and Saurashtra were at the top. Vijay Hazare Trophy Quarter Final

The quarter-finals for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 happened from 21st to 22nd of December. Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Services, Saurashtra and Vidarbha played against each other.

The first competition happened in Jaipur between Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh on the 21st of December. Here Sidharth Sharma played his List A debut while Himachal Pradesh took to the winning position by 5 wickets.

In the next quarter-final, the 2 strongest teams in the Vijay Hazare Trophy faced each other at KL Saini Ground, Jaipur. Dinesh Karthik led Tamil Nadu to victory by 151 runs and led straight to the championship. Following this match was the 3rd quarter-final on the 22nd of December Jaipur Stadium. It happened between Saurashtra and Vidarbha where Saurashtra won by 7 wickets. A bang of 77 by Saurashtra’s Prerak Mankad helped the team to achieve the target.

And the last Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final happened between Kerala and Services where Services won by 7 wickets.

Vijay Hazare Trophy Semi-Final

Before the final clash on the 26th of December, the Vijay Hazare Semifinals 2021, happened on December 24. Himachal Pradesh played against Services at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Here Services made a record 204 to chase, which Himachal Pradesh chased successfully at the loss of 6 wickets. Rishi Dhawan’s 84 on 77 balls helped Himachal Pradesh to score a whopping 281 in 50 overs.

While the second Vijay Hazare Trophy Semi-final happened between Tamil Nadu and Saurashtra at KL Saini Ground, Jaipur. Tamil Nadu won the toss and chose to field first, which proved to be a good decision because Saurashtra made a massive 310 in 50 overs. This gave Tamil Nadu a brief eye into the capacity of the opponent. And then, Tamil Nadu played to their fullest to score 314 and was declared the winning team.

Vijay Hazare Trophy Final

Vijay Hazare Trophy final happened on the 26th of December, Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu were the opponent teams that year. Tamil Nadu was the defending champion on its way to win the 6th VHT title. However, Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 was definitely not a year for Tamil Nadu, as Himachal Pradesh was leading the game from the toss.

Himachal won the toss and decided to field first. Eventually, the trophy went home with Himachal Pradesh as they won the final by 11 runs. Shubham Arora of Himachal had his fair share of the role with 136 runs in 131 balls. It was Himachel’s maiden VHT title.

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 was a historic season where a new winner was added to the list. Himachal Pradesh won their maiden Vijay Hazare Trophy by defeating the most experienced team in the league, Tamil Nadu.

However, Maharashtra’s Ruturaj Gaikwad was the top scorer of the season with Rishi Dhawan following. Also, Himachal Pradesh’s Prashant Chopra was no exception with 456 runs.

Rishi Dhawan led Himachal Pradesh was a new name on the list of Vijay Hazare Trophy winners.
