The Quaid-e-Azam trophy is the premier domestic first-class cricket in Pakistan. And more often than not, it is being staged annually since its inception during the 1953-54 season.
Domestic cricket in Pakistan including the Quaid-e-Azam trophy has gone through many changes regarding its number of matches and teams. However, since the season 2019-20, this sports event has been contested by six regional teams. An intro of them is given below.
In the latest edition, the Quaid-e-Azam trophy final was played between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Northern with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa being the winner of the final round.

History Of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy
The Quaid-e-Azam trophy final was first played in the year 1953-54. It is the premier first-class championship league in the country and is named after the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
This trophy cup was first inaugurated to inject players into the Pakistan cricket team for the Test tour to England in 1954.
In this league, the winners of the knock-out stage get to play in the finals. And then, the one with the most runs is declared the champion of the season.
Format Of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Final
As mentioned before, the Quaid-e-Azam trophy is a first-class cricket league in Pakistan. It contests 30 total matches in the league stage with each match being a four-day game.
And the top two teams from the league stage get to play in the Quaid Azam trophy final. This QEA trophy final can even be stretched to the fifth day if no result is obtained. Then, the team with the most runs is declared the winner. This trophy league is a good way to obtain young talent and new cricketers for the international cricket team.
During the Quaid Azam trophy 2021 season, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the winner of the season.
Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Points Table And System
If we talk about the Quaid Azam trophy squads table, the points are awarded after each match.
- Winner: 16 points
- Lost: 0 points
- Draw: 5 points
- Tie: 9 points
And this is how the points are awarded, keeping in mind the batting and the bowling side.
Batting Points: The first innings are only up to 110 overs – the first point will be given at 200 runs. Then, second at 250 runs. The third point will be given at 300 runs with the fourth at 350 runs. And fifth at 400 runs and so on.
Bowling Points: The first innings only up to 110 overs – the first point will be given at 3 wickets. While second at 6 and third at 9 wickets.

The Most Successful Teams in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy
Karachi is the only team having won the Quaid-e-Azam trophy final 20 times. While Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is the next on the list having won the final 7 times.
Other than that, National Bank has won 5 times. Lahore Quaid-e-Azam trophy teams, United Bank and SNGPL have won 4 times each. While Habib Bank is the three times winner of the Quaid-e-Azam trophy cup.
